04 ZUL HIJJAH 1445 AH

 Respected Parent/Guardian

AS-SALAAMU-ALAIKUM

We have once again reached the end of a term at school. Every new day comes with new challenges which we as a school learn to adapt.

STAFFING

We wish both Mrs S,Noor and Mr.S.Budram well in their new posts that they had taken after resigning their respective posts at our school. Mr.M.J.Sheik was appointed in Mrs S.Noor’s place and Mrs.W.Mohamed has taken over Mr S.Budram’s workload.

Mrs M Kisten, Apa F.Ahmed and Mrs F Hassan are recuperating due to illness. We make dua that Allah (SWT) grant them all complete shi’fa.

PARENTS DAY

We had a Parents Day Meeting on 11 May 2024 for learners who did not perform well in the first term. Many parents came to check on the progress of their children.  However, we do have some parents who have a ‘don’t care’ attitude when it comes to the progress of their children.  Parents fail to respond when letters are sent for them to call at school. The education of our children needs to be taken seriously.

FEES

Many parents have still not paid outstanding fees which is impacting on the smooth running of the school.  The initial registration fees has also not been paid by many parents. The school will have to adopt stricter measures to urge parents to pay their school fees timeously. In the new term we may not allow learners to enter the classroom unless school fees are settled or arrangements are made to settle the outstanding amounts. We are humbly requesting parents to please pay their outstanding school fees.

The secretaries will be at school on Thursday, 27 June 2024 to collect school fees from 8:30 to 11:30.

 VAPE

The smoking of vape and cigarettes is totally prohibited in school.  Learners caught with vape or cigarettes will have these confiscated and learners will be suspended. The cigarettes and vape will not be returned to the learners.

DISCIPLINE

In keeping with the ethos of this school, every effort is made to maintain sound discipline at school.  We wish to thank all parents in supporting us in this respect. We would like parents to instil in learners the importance of performing Salaah, showing mutual respect, being polite, speaking with a moderate tone and refrain from verbal abuse and fighting.  The school will, however, reinforce these concepts at school on a regular basis. Learners who violate the ethos of the school or bring the school into disrepute will be suspended or de-registered from school in terms of the Code of Conduct of the school.

DRUG AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE:

The school views the selling and use of drugs and other substances in a very serious light.  Please be informed that the school will take every step to prevent drug and substance abuse at school.  Any learner who is involved in drug and substance abuse will appear before the Disciplinary Committee and if found guilty will be de-registered from school.  Any case of drug and substance abuse will be reported to the SAPS as this is a violation of the South African law. The matter will be handled by the SAPS and may lead to prosecution.

PARENT VISITS/PERSONAL CALLS TO EDUCATORS/PRINCIPAL

For safety and security reasons parents/guardians are not allowed to visit educators during teaching times. No parent is allowed beyond the secretary’s offices without permission. Any parent breaking this rule will be charged. All parents wishing to see the educator regarding the progress of their children or other matters are welcome to make appointments with the secretary during the course of the year. Parents are not to make personal calls to educators or the principal on their private lines or get involved in WhatsApp chats with educators. Please treat all school issues in a professional manner.  Personal calls after school are not allowed.

ALTERCATIONS AND FIGHTS

Many incidents of fighting after school are being reported.  Please take note the school will not be held responsible for incidents that take place after school hours. It is the responsibility of parents to be prompt to pick up learners when school is dismissed.

EXTRA CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Soccer:  Our school participated in the AMS Soccer Tournament and learners performed well.

Our under 15 reached the semi finals.

Netball:   Our girls participated in the AMS Netball Tournament.

The open division reached the semi finals.

We encourage parents to please assist the school in extra co-curricular activities that take place outside the school. We need help with training, transportation, sponsorship of soccer/netball kits, etc.

REPORTS

Please take note learners from grades R to 9 will receive their reports on the last day of school – 14 June 2024.  Parents of learners in the FET Phase (Gr 10 – 12) will have to pick up their child’s reports on Saturday 13 July from 9:00 to 11:30.

DEBATES

Our grade 7 learners participated in the Verulam, Tongaat and Phoenix Debate Competition. Our learners excelled in the debate competition by winning two of the four debates that took place.

PREFECTS

We had our prefect induction at school.  Our head prefects are;

Boy:       Ebrahim Yasser                  Girl:   Khan Juwariyah

ABSENTEEISM:

This has become a grave concern.  Parents are keeping their children at home for trivial reasons. Learners who are absent on Mondays and Fridays must bring a medical certificate. Those learners who are recipients of zakaat subsidy and are frequently absent will have their subsidy amount reduced or completely stopped.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS:

Our school has a set uniform policy which needs to be strictly adhered to. Learners not abiding by wearing the correct uniform will be sent home.  No correspondence with this regard will be entertained.

EMAILS:
